Organized by the Digital Success Programme, the Civitas Sapiens ’21 Smart City Conference + V4 Summit was one of the highlighted events of the Hungarian Presidency in the field of digitalization. The hybrid conference offered an excellent opportunity for the V4 countries to present their good practices from the public administration and the market sectors as well, and to exchange ideas on the international level.

Krisztina Dóra Varju, ministerial commissioner for Hungary’s 2021/22 Presidency in the Visegrad Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary highlighted in her opening speech that the Visegrad cooperation had stood the test of time and the challenges of the past years had proved its efficiency and ability to develop. The ministerial commissioner stated it was a key question who can restart their economic and societal life after the pandemic and how fast, and expressed her opinion that, in this respect, the V4 countries had performed well.

The conference also featured presentations by the representatives of the V4 countries including, among others, Martina Tauberová, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic, Krzysztof Szubert from Poland, High Representative of the Prime Minister for Digital Policy in Europe, Peter Balík, Director General at Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of Slovakia. The guest country of the event was the Czech Republic; participants had the chance to receive up-to-date knowledge from the Czech speakers and exhibitors, while they could also exchange views regarding the “smart” solutions of the Czech market stakeholders.
