Japanese Foreign Minister, Hayashi Yoshimasa received the V4 Ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on 17 March 2022. Parties discussed the situation in Ukraine and V4+Japan long-term cooperation. The minister expressed his appreciation to the representatives of the Visegrad countries for their actions in the context of the humanitarian crises, especially as regards refugee reception and V4 assistance in the evacuation of Japanese citizens.

H.E. Hungarian Ambassador, Norbert Palanovics emphasised that Japan is one of the strongest partners of the Visegrad Group. The ambassador thanked Japan for its support to international humanitarian organisations working in the V4-region. In the context of the situation in Ukraine, he drew attention to the V4+UK Prime Minister's Statement adopted on 8 March and stressed the unity of the V4 and the EU on the conflict.

V4+Japan cooperation was also discussed during the meeting. A special V4 manga booklet - which aims to give an overview of the history and cultural heritage of the Visegrad Group and the common goals of the format - was also presented.
