On 7-8 February 2022, the Hungarian Ministry for Innovation and Technology organized an informal meeting of the V4 Energy Ministers in Budapest with online participation of Austria and Germany.

During the meetings, the participating ministers shared their views on the creation and design of a European hydrogen ecosystem and the challenges and opportunities the V4 countries face in strengthening the capability of the European Electricity Network. All participants expressed their support for the creation of European standards and stressed the importance of international cooperation.

The event was attended in person by László Palkovics Minister for Innovation and Technology of Hungary, Richard Sulík Deputy Minister and Minister for Economy of the Slovak Republic, Minister Jozef Síkela Minister for Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and Anna Moskwa Minister for Climate and Environment of the Republic of Poland. Jürgen Schneider Director General for Climate and Energy of Austria and Patrick Graichen State Secretary responsible for Energy from Germany joined in online to the hydrogen related discussion.

Following the meeting, a joint declaration was signed by the ministers of the Visegrad Group countries on energy transformation and energy security, strengthening the European electricity grid and creating an interconnected European hydrogen ecosystem.
