On 12 April 2022, the Hungarian Presidency organised an online meeting of territorial directors of the V4 and Indian foreign ministries.

First, heads of the Hungarian, Czech, Polish and Slovak regional departments responsible for India had an internal discussion. All participants were open to launching V4+India cooperation, underlining the growing global importance of India and the Indo-Pacific region, as also highlighted by the EU 2021 Strategy.

V4 representatives discussed the possible areas of cooperation with India, the 2nd most populous and 7th largest country in the world, including post-covid economic recovery, strengthening trade relations, infrastructure development, RDI and culture.

The directors were then joined by Ms Neeta Bhushan, Director General for Central Europe of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The Indian side stressed that they consider the Visegrad countries as important partners, whose weight and role have increased significantly in recent years. They also followed with interest the existing V4+ formats, which could be examples when discussing the future areas and structure of V4+India cooperation.
