Prime Ministers of the V4 countries agreed to provide joint assistance to Ukraine and refugees from Ukraine via the Visegrad Fund with a support package of 1 million euros, focusing on improving the living conditions of refugees from Ukraine in the V4 countries. Read the joint communiqué here.

The extraordinary call for proposals was launched by the Fund in March, open to legal entities registered in Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, or Ukraine.

The aim of the call for proposals for small grants was to help mitigate the effects of war on the refugees arriving from Ukraine/residing in V4 countries, to strengthen the capacities of local authorities, public institutions and civil society organizations who provide the necessary assistance in terms of health and social services in the short- and mid-term, and to ease potential tensions between the refugees and local populations resulting from a lack of information, language barriers and social and economic differences.

The Fund has received 600 applications, out of which 72 approved projects were awarded 1 million € in total.

Thanks to the Visegrad 4 Ukraine Grant, supported organisations will provide the necessary assistance in terms of health and social services in the short- and mid-term, and ease potential tensions between the refugees and local populations resulting from a lack of information, language barriers and social and economic differences.
